About Us
The term "Us" loosely describes my husband, myself, our family and friends.
Just after Christmas 1993, Trevor and his mates headed to Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia, on a much deserved holiday/camping trip. It was a trip that changed most of their lives. Trevor was driving on the surf side of Fraser Island in the early hours of January 1st 1994, returning from a New Years Eve party when his vehicle lost control over a washout from the previous night. He suffered a break in his lower back. What those in the know call a T12/L1 injury. After 6 long months in hospital, Trevor learned to adjust to his life in a Wheelchair. These days its been 17 years and nothing can stop Trevor from trying something new if he has the mind to.
Our family is spread from Rockhampton in Queensland to the North Coast of Tasmania, as well as a Sister and her family in the UK and a Brother and his family in Houston, TX, USA. Most of us are Brisbane locals. Because of the diversity of facilities available, we have been lucky enough to have travelled to visit with most of our family (with the exception of the Sister in the UK) and to also have managed visiting the Brother in the USA. I had travelled extensively as a child, and my itchy feet have followed me into adulthood. These days, with Trevor by my side, we like to venture into the known and the unknown.
I have always referred to things as being Trevor friendly, we're going out to dinner, does the restaurant have steps or is it "Trevor Friendly" and travelling with Trevor can be a challenge. To this end we started researching different sites, tour operators, hotels, tourist attractions, restaurants and all the normal things you need when visiting a strange place. We discovered that whilst some sites offer to book holidays for people with mobility restrictions, no one actually offers just an information service to those of us that require some basic information that most people don't even stop to think about. And so the idea for this site was born.
